Beehive and Apple Tree

February 13, 2011

This is looking down below from our upstairs bedroom window.  It’s the view I wake up to every morning.  The apple tree is probably as old as our house, which was built in 1920.  We’ve never gotten an apple from it.  Behind the tree is the tremendously prolific blackberry thicket which also came with the house.  In the foreground is the patch of red raspberries I transplanted here from my childhood home in Connecticut.  Then there’s the beehive.  I need to clear the entrance of snow so that the bees can get out and stretch they’re wings this coming week; temperatures are predicted to reach the low 50s.
